I Can’t Help Myself

As an architectural photographer, I can’t help but get excited when I find a space that feels alive with history and design. After a recent shoot in Concord, I found myself wandering over to this incredible house, completely drawn in by its charm. The Gropius House in Concord, MA, is one of those places that stops you in your tracks—a perfect blend of stunning design and rich history. I just had to pull out my camera and start capturing it!

Built in 1938, the Gropius House was designed by Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus School. It’s a masterpiece of modernist architecture, blending traditional New England materials like wood and brick with innovative elements such as glass blocks and flat roofs. This house isn’t just a home; it’s a statement about how architecture can transform how we live.

What completely captivated me during my visit was how the Gropius House is all about simplicity and light. Every angle of the home reveals something fresh—a perfect harmony between structure and the surrounding environment. When I saw this house on this day with the light and clouds like they were, everything just fit so well together–I couldn’t NOT photograph it!.   Walter Gropius’ philosophy of "less is more" isn’t just evident in the design; it’s something I connect with deeply in my own photography.

Photography isn’t just a job for me; it’s my passion and what gives my life purpose. Standing in front of the Gropius House, I felt a deep connection to why I love what I do so much. Spaces like this compel me to pick up my camera and share what I see.  There’s nothing I enjoy more than helping others appreciate that beauty too.

Photography doesn’t feel like work to me—it’s my joy, my purpose, and my way of connecting with the world. And I love sharing that connection with others.
