Should I Update My Headshots?
Whenever I get asked to do headshots, I get a little excited. I am confident in my ability to put people at ease and help them forget about being photographed, It’s a mix of cracking dad jokes, talking about their interests, and catching that perfect moment when a real, natural smile appears—usually about 1-2 seconds after a laugh.
Lately, I’ve been refining my approach with a new lighting setup I picked up from Jon Meadows and Vail Fucci at ImagingUSA. And wow, what a difference it makes! This setup helps diminish wrinkles and brings out people’s eyes, making folks look their absolute best. One client even saw the difference firsthand—after being photographed with my old setup and then with the new one, she was thrilled with how much better she looked in the updated shots.
And the feedback? Well, that speaks for itself:
"Such a pleasure, Patrick! Thanks so much for the laughs and great pics!"
"You have such a talent for photography. We all truly appreciated you and the entire experience!"
"My girlfriend was so excited you got me to smile TWO times!"
The best part? I show people their photos right after I take them, and I love seeing their reactions. Most of the time, they’re genuinely impressed with how great they look—because great lighting plus a little laughter makes all the difference.
So, when was the last time you updated your headshot? If it’s been a while—or if you’re starting a new job, stepping into a promotion, or just ready for a fresh look—let’s talk!
