What a Treat: Photographing the Ragon Institute’s Sustainable Beauty
Some shoots feel like a true gift, and this summer, I received one of those gifts. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing many projects for Xquisite Landscaping, but this one was something truly special.
The project? The new Ragon Institute headquarters in Kendall Square, Cambridge—an architectural marvel designed by Payette. The building is a minimalist masterpiece, with graceful curves and a unique array of scalloped aluminum sunshades that not only add beauty but enhance energy efficiency. It’s also a LEED Gold-certified facility, with stunning sustainable features like a green roof, diverse outdoor vegetation, and blue roof systems for water retention and control.
Xquisite’s landscaping work brought life to the space, from the lush surroundings to the elegant design leading up the main staircase. I made sure to arrive early to capture the exteriors before the hustle of the day began. It was like being a kid in a candy store—so many vibrant colors, incredible angles, and opportunities to create something amazing.
This shoot reminded me why I love what I do. Being trusted to capture such an extraordinary project is an honor, and it reaffirms my belief in the value of my work. If you have a project you’re proud of, I’d love to help you tell its story. Let’s showcase your passion together—email me today!
